Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said at the conference on outcomes of the first year of implementation of the “State Program on socio-economic development of districts of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2014-2018” at the Heydar Aliyev Center.
The Head of the State said that countries which had not invested in the real sector, infrastructure, today regret it: "They start to do it today, but it`s too late. Today, when oil prices fell, to make big investments are not so easy. We had to do everything on time, and we have done. Therefore, speaking today about the existence of the Azerbaijani model, we are not mistaken. There is such a model, it is interesting and for other parties."
President of Azerbaijan, touching energy projects said that the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, "Shah Deniz”, TANAP, TAP, the Southern Gas Corridor change the energy map of the region of Europe: "Every one of them is unique historic project. These projects have been implemented in the last 9 years. Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline was commissioned in 2006, was created corridor. This corridor is already functioning, there are new projects."
President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan is again showing its leadership: "If we had not assumed a leadership role, the Southern Gas Corridor would never have been realized. At the time, I personally took part in at least 10 international events related to the Nabucco project. That is, in addition to the discussions, there was nothing there. Statements, speeches, adoption of resolutions - that`s all. After that, all apart, and the work is not done. I took part in at least ten events. And every time I say that there must be leadership. How to implement this project? What are main elements? This is not so difficult question. But all to no avail. Then we made sure that the project goes on. Once again, we have taken the initiative, proposed a draft TANAP. We gave it a name, but we were the initiators. In 2012 we signed with Turkey this project. After that, open up opportunities for the Southern Gas Corridor. What would happen if we did not do?! All would have remained unchanged. Or the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars. This has been discussed a decade ago, and further discussion is not passed. If we had not taken the initiative, have not made a real proposal, financial resources, and today would talk about it. And today, the ministers would hold conferences here and there. We are engaged in actual deeds. Real businesses are reflected in life. So today there are Azerbaijani model. After all, we do not idle talk, and real actions, serve and will serve the people.
